Flextime in Austin was highly eventful. With South by Southwest going on, there was plenty to explore in the startup community. Thursday night we started off strong with the Startup Crawl which was a great way to mingle with dozens of startup companies in the time frame of very few hours. Adam, Simba, Eric, and myself perused the booths and asked many people about their products, their goals, and why Austin? Many of them were local individuals. One person I got to snap a pic with was Zafar Choudhury who works with Luna Data Solutions Inc., a recruiting company for tech jobs.
We checked out many other startups including the folks from Word Press Engine that were being hosted at Capital Factory.
On Friday Josie, Eric, Alexis, Katie, and myself went to check out more SXSW interactive events. We traveled to the convention center to find it ridden with displays of 3D printing, circuitry, biology, robotics, and many other forms of technology. We played around and even made LED badges.
After that, we discovered the gaming portion of Southby and some of us geeked out (myself included). We witnessed live competitions, beta testing of numerous games, interesting festivalgoers, countless computers, and even tried an Oculus Rift Star Wars Game. All in all SXSW offered a whole lot of awesomeness to explore in a very short period of time.
